In addition, there is persistent pursuit of a merger and acquisition (M&A) amid shareholders’ reservations in order to get market attention and further use M&A accounting rules to cloud their financial statements. Moreover, many listed firms are constantly in court due to tax disagreements with KRA because the firm is either evading tax or pursuing tax refunds on taxes not paid. There are cases where firms submit good results, yet investment analysts give poor recommendations of the stock to investors. More serious is the use of proforma financial reports constructed on basis of assumptions and fantasy forecasting not presented to shareholders, and which present the best possible appearance of firm performance. In themselves, such reports are nothing but corporate fiction. To perpetrate some of these wayward practices, some listed firm directors use breakfast briefing meetings where they invite friendly analysts. This is meant to shore up market confidence of the firm, even amid dismal performance.
The implications are that there are no accounting reports by directors, written or verbal, that you can rely on with certainty. Even look at the disclaimers contained in all recent initial public offerings (IPO) prospectus and you will see what I mean.In the first communication by the company to potential shareholders,Puma Ferrari Shoes, the directors, through accountants and auditors, are simply telling their investors that “you cannot rely on any fact we have presented in this document”. In fact, this is the only truthful piece of information you will ever receive from a listed firm, and after the IPO, it will always be downhill. There is also the use of most confounding accounting rules to make the numbers look better for the market to believe the fabrications being presented. Some create special-purpose subsidiaries and off-shore ventures to hide debt, documentation and create fake revenue.

Dakota Fanning certainly looked stylish today when she made her way to a lecture at NYU.But the actress may have been rethinking her choice of leather trousers as she spilt lemonade while guzzling her canned drink on the go.The fizzy drink ended up on her trousers as well as her Balenciaga handbag as she rushed around the Big Apple to make it to her class on time. The 18-year-old looked very grown-up in her fashionable outfit which also consisted of a white top and black blazer. She accessorised her daytime look with a charcoal scarf, black ankle boots and a pair of brown-lensed sunglasses.
She will star as the protagonist in Now Is Good, a film adapted from the novel Before I Die, which tells the story of a young girl who suffers from leukaemia attempting to complete her bucket list.Dakota also stars in upcoming movie Effie, which explores the relationship between Victorian art critic John Ruskin and his teenage bride, alongside Emma Thompson and Julie Walters. And she will play the female lead in the upcoming film adaptation of The Motel Life, alongside Emile Hirsch and Stephen Dorff. The plot centres around two brothers from Reno, Nevada, whose lives are turned upside down following a tragic accident.

Washington Post Politics app for the iPad: An introduction
The Washington Post Politics App for the iPad provides the deepest, best and most engaging coverage of this year’s elections. The app tells you everything you need to know about the latest election news and developments, delivered in one-of-a-kind graphical display and with stunning photography. The app, which can be downloaded from the App Store here, is filled with distinctive features — the latest polls,Women’s Puma Drift Cat shoes, highlighting the ones that are must trustworthy, video of the newest TV ads with a map that shows where they’re airing, plus the Post’s premier political voices, including Dan Balz, The Fix, The Fact Checker, Ezra Klein and others.
Our goal for this app was to cut through the clutter of the campaign to bring it alive and provide everything you need to know in new and compelling ways. We put a heavy focus on photos and video to bring all of the pomp and pageantry of a presidential campaign to your screen. Everyone wants to know where the candidates stand on the issues, but no one wants to read through a laundry list of stances. So we came up with an engaging experience that shows at a glance how the candidates differ from each other and whether they’ve switched positions. We also wanted to take some of the Post’s best features to a new level. Many of the fact checks, for example, include video of the comments in question. And just for a little fun, when a candidate starts fibbing, Pinocchio’s nose starts growing. Lastly, this is not an automated experience — Post editors will update the app throughout the day.
The app begins with the freshest news, analysis and opinion from the campaign trail. The headlines themselves provide a visual display of the campaign, and each article opens with an evocative picture from the trail. The Candidates section provides an easily accessible and highly informative look at where the candidates stand on the major issues of the election. Has Mitt Romney really shifted on abortion? This section shows you in graphical display what he used to believe, what he believes now and how that compares to his opponents. New issues will appear regularly as they come up in the campaign.
The Maps provide the latest pulse of the race. The polling and results map shows who’s won in the states that have held contests and who’s ahead in the ones that haven’t. The Preferred Polls tab narrows that list to include only the most reliable surveys. A map of the latest TV ads shows where candidates or independent groups are advertising, as well as the ads themselves. And the historical data map shows who’s won every state and every election in American history. Wondering who carried Virginia in 1824? The WP Politics App for the iPad will tell you.
